Coil Finder: Which Coil Fits My Vaporesso, Uwell, Voopoo, Aspire, SMOK or Geekvape Kit?

Coils wear out, and when they do, flavour fades and you may get a burnt taste. Buying the right replacement is simple once you know which coil family your kit or tank uses. This guide shows how to find it.

Step 1: find your kit or tank name

The coil fits the tank or pod, not the battery. Look on the tank, the pod or the original box for the model name. If you have a kit with a separate tank, the tank name is what matters.

Step 2: match the coil family

Brand Common coil or pod family Used in
Vaporesso XROS pods; GTX coils XROS pod kits; many Vaporesso kits and tanks
Uwell Caliburn pods (model-specific) Caliburn pod kits; buy the pod named for your model
OXVA XLIM pods (V2, V3, EZ) Xlim pod kits
Voopoo PnP coils Many Voopoo Drag, Vinci and Argus kits
Aspire BVC, Nautilus, Cleito coils Nautilus tanks, Cleito tanks and matching kits
SMOK RPM, Nord and TFV coils RPM and Nord pod kits; TFV tanks
Geekvape Z series and Boost coils Z tanks and Aegis Boost kits
Innokin, Eleaf, Freemax Model-specific coils Check the tank name on the coil box

Coil families include several versions, so always check the product page to confirm the coil lists your model. Browse all coils and replacement pods, or shop by brand: Vaporesso, Uwell, Voopoo, Aspire, SMOK and Geekvape.

Step 3: choose the right resistance

    Resistance Style Best liquid
1.0Ω and above Mouth to lung (MTL), tight draw 10mg to 20mg nic salts
0.6Ω to 0.9Ω MTL to restricted lung Nic salts or 50/50 e-liquid
Below 0.5Ω (sub-ohm) Direct lung, bigger vapour High-VG shortfills at low strength

Tips for a longer coil life

    • Prime every new coil before use. Read our coil priming guide.
    • Do not vape when the tank or pod is nearly empty.
    • Use a liquid that suits the coil resistance.

    Frequently asked questions

How often should I change my coil?

Most coils last one to two weeks. Change it when the flavour fades or you taste burning.

Can I use a different brand’s coil in my tank?

Usually not. Coils are made for specific tanks or pods. Some brands share a coil family across models, but always check the coil lists your device.

Why does my new coil taste burnt?

The coil was probably not primed. Let the cotton soak for five to ten minutes before vaping and start on low power.

  • How to Add a Nic Shot to a 100ml Shortfill (With Ratio Table)

How to Add a Nic Shot to a 100ml Shortfill (With Ratio Table)

Shortfills are larger bottles of nicotine-free (0mg) e-liquid, usually 50ml or 100ml, sold in a bigger bottle with space left at the top. That space is for a nicotine shot, a 10ml bottle of unflavoured nicotine. Here is how to add one and what strength you end up with.

    Step by step

    1. Check the bottle size. A 100ml shortfill normally comes in a 120ml bottle, which leaves room for two 10ml shots. A 50ml shortfill normally comes in a 60ml bottle, with room for one shot.
    2. Remove the nozzle. Most shortfill nozzles pull off with a firm pull or twist. Some have a small tab to help.
    3. Add the shot. Squeeze the nicotine shot into the shortfill bottle.
    4. Replace the nozzle and cap, then shake for about a minute so the nicotine mixes evenly.
    5. Leave it to settle for a few minutes before filling your tank.

    Ratio table: final strength

Most nicotine shots are 18mg or 20mg in a 10ml bottle. The table shows the approximate final strength.

Shortfill Shots added Total liquid With 18mg shots With 20mg shots
    50ml 1 × 10ml 60ml 3mg 3.3mg
    100ml 1 × 10ml 110ml 1.6mg 1.8mg
    100ml 2 × 10ml 120ml 3mg 3.3mg

    The formula

    Final strength = (shot strength × shot ml) ÷ total ml. For example, two 18mg shots in a 100ml shortfill: (18 × 20) ÷ 120 = 3mg.

    Which device should you use?

Shortfills are usually high in VG, which gives bigger, smoother vapour. They work best in sub-ohm vape kits and tanks, not in small nic salt pod kits. Browse our shortfills and 100ml shortfills, and read our guide to shortfill e-liquids.

    Safety tips

    • Keep nicotine shots and e-liquids out of reach of children and pets.
    • Wipe up any spills and wash your hands if liquid gets on your skin.
    • Label a bottle once you have added nicotine, so you know its strength.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I add more than two shots to a 100ml shortfill?

Only if the bottle has space. Most 100ml shortfills come in 120ml bottles, so two shots is the maximum.

Do I have to add a nic shot?

No. Shortfills can be vaped at 0mg if you do not want nicotine.

Can I use nic salt shots?

Yes, some brands make nic salt shots. They give a smoother feel at the same strength. Use the same table to work out the final strength.
